Thinking Outside the Ballot Box

I have had over 27 years in the electoral field, starting with the General Election of 1987. During this time I have worked on all the main types of elections, and doing most of the duties as well! I have knowledge of Idox (Strand), eXpress and Halarose electoral software packages and am a quick learner! My IT qualifications  are City & Guilds levels 2 & 3 (Comptia A+ and Networking) and I am adept at data processing. I have worked on both LLPG and NLPG standards and have experience of mapping. I am proficient  in website content and design (I am Obtree trained). During my time as a consultant I have worked on Boundary and Polling District Reviews. In the area of postal voting I have supervised both despatch and receipt at all types of elections including an all-postal Mayoral election. I have been a manager at two local authorities and a deputy at two others and have organised several annual canvasses. Amongst my qualifications is a Certificate of Management from Westminster University. During the inaugural elections in Namibia in 1989 I worked with the UN to supervise elections near the Angolan border. In 1997, I co-wrote 'Right to Vote' (Via Publications) with Yve Amor. At the PCC Elections in Sussex in 2012, I was  Deputy Returning Officer (Adjudication) at the Brighton Count. In March 2013, I worked as a Count Supervisor on the City of London elections. I even did a stint as a Presiding Officer in 2014! I was a founder member of the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) in it's founding year, 1987.
